Writing Partners and Growing Characters

For the first time ever, I have a face to face writing partner.  I have an unpublished novel, and he wants to get started and he looks to me for ideas.  But, I feel like the blind leading the blind.  Still, he forces me to think about what I say and think about writing.  We have been discussing character development.  Working on his characters, I realize that I need to be growing mine again.

Making Time to Write

Writing a book or a script is something I “do” when I am “unemployed.” I am not unemployed, now, and I am short of time. Making time to write is tough. Too much to do to write, at least that is the excuse that I tell myself.

Maybe this is the best time to write. Small snippets, written in a concentrated effort, might give me a better quality than oozing something out when I otherwise do not know what to do with myself.

Does a 2AM Entry count as “Morning Pages” if we have not gone to bed yet?

2AM has come and gone and I meant to go back to sleep shortly after I woke up from my nap, about 9pm. I had more to write, but it evaporated as I worked on projects other than writing. Where does it all go?

I do not know if I can carve out the time to write five pages (on average) per day. And, I have never written a script before.

Maybe sleep will help.

To Script Frenzy or Not to Script Frenzy

Trying to decide whether or not to do ScriptFrenzy. My last attempt at Nano crashed and burned; just did not have the continued focus necessary for the productivity to make Nanowrimo happen for me.  (Did it in 2006 but could not make it happen in either 2007 or 2008.)

If I do launch into ScriptFrenzy, I might blog about the process of doing this here.
